Time Line Technique

Our subconsious mind has a method of “storing” time. This is what you know as memory. Your subconscious is fully in charge of this vast store of data. It records everything you have ever experienced in life from the time your outside awareness developed when you were very young. This development differs from person to person but for most people it develops at around five years of age.

Human memory is the hallmark of knowledge and intelligence. Without it we would have to rely strictly on instinct as we have been programmed to behave by the Creator. It is what sets us apart and gives us supremecy over the rest of the living. Other animals exhibit evidence of learning ability through conditioning and therefore have memory as well. The human mind goes beyond the minds of any the other creatures. Outside of being programmed we use our memory to create and move about as unique and individual representations of the Universal Mind. Memory allows us to learn and form our core belief systems. We have, and still do, use it for basic survival. Your computer cannot compare with your mind. The innate power that your mind has is staggering!

Your subconscious mind “indexes” all realms of experience you take in through the senses and makes them available for your use through the conscious mind – the mind you use to think and reason with. With this ability you have the ability to work marvelous wonders. But there is a problem…

It is one thing to remember. This happens on the subconscious level. In order to use your memory in many instances, you must recall memory. This is where the fun starts because you use your conscious thinking and reasoning mind to do this. This mind is in charge of recall and sometimes it seems impossible to achieve this. We will show this by example with the ever familiar academic studies that most of us have been through. You take an exam after a segment of study to measure how well you’ve retained or better said, what you can recall from the material as you have committed to memory. Factors too many to list can inhibit you from being able to recall information from your memory. It is there as you perceived it just as is everything else you have ever experienced. Exams reveal what you were not able to recall. This is true of recalling anything from the mind’s database. Core belief systems, low self-esteem and many other conditions can deter you from memory recall of a certain experience.

Time line technique is a tool used by professional hypnotherapists, NLP, and other alternative medicine practitioners to enhance your ability to access memory. You will be put under hypnosis to bring you to desired relaxation which makes your subconscious accessible. Once you learn the process of time line technique you can do this yourself to improve memory recall.

Basically, once you are in a relaxed state and having learned to “trust” your subconscious mind to bring up desired answers, you define your system of memory storage. A way to find out where your subconscious mind stores the information is usually done by your determination of which “direction” your past goes and so with your future. A line (whatever shape it takes) forms between the past and future points and everything in between is your time line. Some people see their past-to-future go from left to right, others from behind to in front. Still others see it in different formats than these. Then points of memory are applied to the lines connecting the past to present to future.

Take brushing your teeth – this is a simple one to begin with. Recall a memory of this event as it occurred 10 years ago, 5 years ago, last year, last month, last week, yesterday, tomorrow, next week, next month, and so forth. You will have set up a time line of how and in what conditions you brushed your teeth and as you see it in the future. Which direction do the memories of this event come to you from the past? The future? After compiling this timeline of an event you must rise above it and look upon it to assess it.

Time line therapy helps resolve issues that have been lost in the annals of your memory. You can use it to reveal past events and relive them to help remove faulty belief systems, you can use it to chart out your future, or many other applications.

What is EFT?

Emotional Freedom Therapy – EFT was created by Gary Craig, a Stanford engineering graduate and ordained minister with the United Church of God in Southern California, which is non-denominational and embraces all religions.

Gary Craig, in the mid 1990′s EFT technique was meant to be a simplification and improvement of Dr. Roger Callahan’s Though Field Therapy (TFT) techniques. In 1990 Cary Craig trained with Dr. Callahan and in 1993 Gary Craig was the first person Callahan trained in his most advanced procedure, a proprietary procedure known as “voice technology.” Cary found through his experience that the sequence of tapping points did not matter and that special proprietary procedures were therefore unnecessary, this was born EFT (emotional freedom technique.)

The core issues of being of the therapy learned from Dr. Roger Callahan, EFT is based on this new discovery that has provided thousands with relief from pain, disease and emotional issues. Simply stated, is an emotional version of acupuncture except needles are not necessary. Instead, you stimulate well established energy meridian, points on your body by tapping on them with your fingertips. You can easily learn this process and once learned you can do them anywhere.

“The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.” and because our physical pains and deseases are so obviously connected with our emotions, the following statememt has also been proven to be true. “Our unresolved negative emotions are major contributions to most physical pains and diseases.” This common sense approach draws its power from:

1. time honored eastern discoveries that have been around for over 5,000 years and

2. Albert Einstein, who told us back in the 1920s that everything (including our bodies) is composed of energy.

These ideas have been largely ignored by Western healing practices and that is why EFT often works at times when nothing else will.

NLP (Neuroliquistic Programming)

What is NLP?

NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming, a name that encompasses the three most influential components involved in producing human experience: neurology, language and programming. The neurological system regulates how our bodies function, language determines how we interface and communicate with other people and our programming determines the kinds of models of the world we create. Neurolinguistic Programming describes the fundamental dynamics between mind (neuro) and language (linguistic) and how their interplay effects our body and behavior (programming).

NLP is a pragmatic school of thought – an ‘epistemology’ – that addresses the many levels involved in being human. NLP is a multi-dimensional process that involves the development of behavioral competence and flexibility, but also involves strategic thinking and an understanding of the mental and cognitive processes behind behavior. NLP provides tools and skills for the development of states of individual excellence, but it also establishes a system of empowering beliefs and presuppositions about what human beings are, what communication is and what the process of change is all about.

At another level, NLP is about self-discovery, exploring identity and mission. It also provides a framework for understanding and relating to the ‘spiritual’ part of human experience that reaches beyond us as individuals to our family, community and global systems. NLP is not only about competence and excellence, it is about wisdom and vision.

Pain Management

While the presence of pain has value and purpose, serving to warn us when something has gone wrong either within or from something externally, having served its purpose and is no longer necessary, methods of pain management are available for relief. It goes without saying, however, that the total elimination of pain would remove a vital system from our being. Its removal would result in heightened vulnerablities to unperceived dangers in our environment, either within or without. Pain is a necessary part of our lives.

This especially applies to acute pain, which is the kind we experience when we accidentally slice our finger with a knife, get burned, fracture a bone, etc. This pain causes us, at the subconscious level, to jerk ourselves away from whatever is causing the pain, such as a hot pan or a sharp object. Pain is the warning system that aids in our physical congruity with the environment we are in, keeping us out of harm’s way.

This also applies to chronic pain — at first. This pain also lets us know that something inside of us is out of order. However, there comes a time when pain has served its purpose and pain control becomes necessary.

Mostly attributed to the kind of social conditioning we receive (mass media, etc) when it comes to controlling pain, most of us choose to run to the doctor who prescribes medications designed to reduce or eliminate the pain. There are alternative healing solutions for pain management.

Pain does not come from the source that caused it, but rather from within. Interestingly, sometimes we may injure ourself in some way but not know that the injury has occurred — until we become aware, through our vision or other senses, of the damage. A cut on our finger provides a good example. We have not experienced any pain — until we become aware of it, then it begins to hurt.

Before the days of anesthesia, the medical profession learned about the effectiveness of hypnosis to minimize or eradicate pain. The body and mind together produce pain in reaction to whatever adversity is bringing harm to the body. Pain can be controlled without medications. The professionals from bygone days were aware that pain could be effectively controlled through relaxation and positive suggestion.

Hypnotherapy, properly administered, is a highly affective pain relief alternative.
